The VIP Street

The slippery runway of VIP area showed the reflection of the red light of headlights. Parth did not apply the brakes till the very last minute. Heavy tires screeched on the asphalt stopping only at inches distance from the paralyzed Mrinalini standing in the middle of the deserted boulevard.

There was an entire silence apart from the low hum of a custom V8 engine.

Inside the car Parth kept the same left hand at the top of the steering wheel. He fixed his rear-view mirror, showing no reaction towards the near accident that was just an extra paperwork for the secretaries of his father. He opened heavy driver's door and walked outside into the light rain with sarcastic comment already formed on his lips.

If you wanted my attention, sweetheart, there are safer ways to—

He paused.

Mrinalini was neither yelling nor taking her phone out to call the police on him. She was paralysed, her body shaking violently. She was holding her handbag so hard, that her knuckles went white and her eyes were wide as she was processing the situation of how close to death she had been.

Without saying a single word she walked back two steps, trying to escape from the still engine idling supercar.

Then her knees gave up.

Parth reacted on instincts, showing a rare flash of spontaneity in his calm calculated behavior. He supported her right on time before her head would knock the pavement.

She fell limp into his arms, her soft hair touching his cheek while he was carrying her weight that was now fully on him. His cold, rigid body enclosed a trembling girl who was completely at his mercy. Her body temperature was low, and her pulse was pounding furiously under his palm that he was using to support her waist.

He was looking into her pale face that was unconscious under the street lights. Her sarcastic smile froze at his face as he saw her face. It was replaced with something darker.

He didn't call his security or an ambulance.

Instead he put her gently into his arms and carried her straight to the open passenger door of his car.

The leather interior of the car was silent, apart from the faint sound of the climate control system. Parth reclined in the driver's seat, resting one arm over the steering wheel, his dark eyes locked entirely on her face.

He did not panic, shout for help, or try to comfort her. He simply waited, observing her for that exact moment when she would wake up.

Taking a screw bottle of cold water from the center console, Parth put his hand into it and sprinkled a couple of drops onto her face.

The cold water touched her skin, and Mrinalini gasped sharply, opening her eyes.

In a second, everything around her became a mixture of dark leather, ambient lights of the car's dashboard, and a huge shadow looming above her. Soon enough, however, her mind started understanding what was really happening-she was trapped in a strange car with a complete stranger looking at her.

Heart racing in her chest with the intensity of a caged animal, her thoughts immediately rushed to the most horrible possibilities-Who is this guy? Why am I here in his car? I have to get out!

She did not cry out, accuse him, or attack him physically-Fear had strangled her tongue. Trembling wildly, her sweaty palms were already reaching for the door handle.

Parth did not even make an attempt to prevent her. He only watched her hysterical movements with cold, sharp amusement, intrigued about how far she could go in her panic.

With shaking hands, she finally grabbed the handle and opened the door, letting the night wind come in. Without looking back once, Mrinalini got out of the car and forced her shaking legs to move, running away as quickly as possible.

Resting his chin on his hand, Parth watched her through the half-open door.

Neither he realized that she was the daughter of the important MLA he was supposed to meet the next day. Nor she knew that the reckless driver who almost killed her was none other than the Chief Minister's son.

All he knew, looking at her retreating figure under the yellow glow of the streetlights, was that no one ever escaped him-and he was going to find out who she really was.
